I am passing this on because I am frankly both appalled and terrified. The British are giving in to their Muslim populations. This week they removed the Holocaust from their curriculum because it offended the Muslims who do not believe it happened. They also have agreed to allow Sharia Law to be used within the Muslim communities.
Lord Chief Justice Lord Phillips said, “Those entering into a contractual agreement can agree that the agreement shall be governed by a law other than English law.”
The laws of a country are the basis for it’s social interaction and cohesion . Nothing is more important than preserving the laws of a country! Nothing! And yet the British, our staunchest allies and friends have allowed a small segment of their population to ignore the law of the land in favor of a law of intolerance and ignorance.
Lord Phillips said Muslims could use Sharia law, or Islamic legal principles as long as punishments comply with English Law. Sharia Law is a law of intolerance and ignorance and dominion over women. There is no way that Sharia Law can comply with English Law. Look up Sharia Law and see for yourself how different it is from our own laws which are based mostly on English law.

As for the judge’s comments about Sharia law, he made them in a speech, not some sort of ruling; he said that Sharia principals could be used in arbitration agreed to by both parties, not in British courts; and to the extent that his comments were less than fully considered, even while less threatening than you portray them, they were repudiated by other Britains.
Huge breech in the damn? No. Mountain out of molehill.

I didn’t check Snopes on the elimination of history of Holocaust because I read it in BBC News a while back. It was quite a topic of discussion in the House of Commons. Can not remember the date.
I don’t think allowing one small segment of the population to have their own law that takes precedence over English Law even if only in that small area is a molehill. I believe as I have said that it is a huge breech in the dam against Muslim dominstion of the world. I will not live to see it and perhaps my granddaughter will not, but I believe it will happen because the Islamists are determined and patience.
there have been attempts to change US laws to favor Muslims that thank goodness have failed so far. but as our population becomes more and more forgetful of the past since history is no longer being taught in our schools the people will become more and more unthinking progressives. yes, it is somewhat of an urban legend, but the trend is unsettling. I think the pressure coming from the more radical clerics, along with population dynamics, and it worrisone.
And the enormous double standpoint is very irritating. All over the world Muslims who convert to Christianity are ostracized, disowned, or worse. Are Muslim culture and western culture compatible. Seems not.

Well Roch a lot of far more intelligent people than you or I seem to think this is what has happened in Great Britain. Cal Thomas had an Op-Ed piece in the N&R recently that addresses the issue. And if you care to check out Townhall.com you can find a few more very intelligent well informed people who are seeing the handwriting on the wall. BB
