Do you all remember Inspector General (IG) Gerald Walpin? You know, the IG who investigated ACORN in California and found an Obama friend Kevin Johnson guilty of all kinds of fraudulent action. Well he stepped on Obama toes and got fire (illegally) by the White House. Mr. Walpin has been cleared of any wrong doing and wants his job back, but the Obama crowd are holding on to their actions as being correct. As you see this was quite a story but before anything could be done the legal steps had to be taken to clear IG Gerald Walpin of any wrong doing. That has now happened and he wants his job back. But no one, I mean absolutely NO ONE, can criticize Obama or any of his friends or associates with out the thug tactics used in Chicago to destroy that individual. IG Walpin (and a few others) did that and now it will take an act of Congress to get him reinstated into a job that he really didn’t legally lose in the first place.
President Obama fired IG Walpin but he didn’t have this authority. Since Congress employs the Inspector Generals only congress after due process according to the Inspector Genreals Act has the authority to fire Inspector Generals. This law was passed to protect Inspector Generals against just the sort of thing that happened here. IG’s must have autonomy in order to do their job.
Now that IG Gerald Walpin has been cleared will he get his job back? Don’t bet on it. This is afterall the Obama Administration and as many illegal and/or unethical actions that they have taken over the past 10 months proves they can get away with anything they want. How long this situation will continue is anyone’s guess. I am seeing signs that even the mainstream media (ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN) are becoming more prompt in reporting Obama’s actions; tho they still try to play down or whitewash. This is however a step in the right direction as they didn’t even report his seriously wrong actions before. BB
An inquiry by a group known as the Integrity Committee found last month that Walpin offered an adequate response to charges from a federal prosecutor that Walpin withheld exculpatory evidence and made improper statements to the press in connection with an inquiry he initiated into improper use of funds by the Sacramento-based St. Hope Academy.
A White House official said Tuesday afternoon that the development, first reported by POLITICO, did not change the administration’s view that President Barack Obama had ample reason to oust Walpin from his post as a watchdog at the Corporation for Community and National Service.
