I simply could not believe the Senate vote taken yesterday. I just KNEW that even the Democrats in the Senate would see the Contraceptive Mandate as a religious issue regardless of how the administration and the real weird ones tried to spin it. but I was wrong because 50 Democrats in the Senate voted to force people to go against their religious beliefs (and the one so-called Republican Maine’s Olympia
Snow!). Three Democrats voted Not to kill the amendment so the turn coat Republican was the final knife tearing our Constitutional Rights to freedom of Religion. I sincerely hope the people in Maine who voted for her over and over again are happy today with their Senator.
Maybe this vote is good however because this may just be the issue that will defeat Obama. I know the Catholic Church has just begun to fight back and many churches are joining them. BB
| Obamacare Attacks Economic & Religious Liberty |
| Brenda,Yesterday, 51 Senators voted against economic and religious liberty. It was a stunning vote that served as a stark reminder of the challenges we face in Washington – a majority of U.S. Senators are more interested in creating new rights than defending our unalienable rights guaranteed to us in the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.This time, the federal government used the sweeping powers embedded in Obamacare to mandate insurance companies to provide a product free of charge and mandate religiously affiliated organizations – such as schools, hospitals and charities – to violate their religious beliefs.
Americans have known all along that Obamacare is nothing more than a massive power grab by the federal government. This latest assault on liberty by the Obama Administration opened up another front in the effort to repeal Obamacare: its impact on the freedom to exercise religious beliefs. In essence, President Obama and 51 Senators declared that religiously affiliated organizations cannot continue providing services for the poor and the sick, or educate children, unless they abandon their most fundamental beliefs.
If the Obama Administration and the U.S. Senate can so blatantly trample on our First Amendment protections and economic liberty, we have to ask where does it end? We cannot afford to find out what President Obama’s next mandate will be or which of our liberties will be the next to fall under the guise of Obamacare.
