And So I Go: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

Restoring Honor in America

Posted on: August 27, 2010

For those who can not, like me,  be at the Lincoln Memorial Restoring Honor to America rally I hope you will join me in prayer for our country.  We need God if we are to save ourselves and our nation.  We need to return to decency and honor and charity and love.  He will save us if we sincerely ask Him.  The Bible  has several passages where God asked for “just men” and promised for these He would save the city or the country.  Remember Jeremiah 5:1  Run – God gives leave to all the earth to look into the state of Jerusalem, by which he vindicates himself in the face of the whole world from all severity towards his people, whatever he brings upon them. In the broad places – Even there, where men meet from all quarters. A man – It seems worse than Sodom and Gomorrah, for God condescends to pardon Jerusalem, if there be but one righteous man found in it; there he came no lower than ten. A man might walk the streets of Jerusalem long enough before he could meet with any one truly religious. Executeth – Among the magistracy. Seeketh – Among the commonalty, that deal faithfully and uprightly.

And there were other times God spoke and asked for but a few just and honorable beings then promised He would show mercy to all for the sake of these few:

Genesis 18:26 So the LORD said, “If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare the whole place on their account.”

Genesis 18:32 Then he said, “Oh may the Lord not be angry, and I shall speak only this once; suppose ten are found there?” And He said, “I will not destroy it on account of the ten.”

2 Chronicles 16:9 “For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. You have acted foolishly in this. Indeed, from now on you will surely have wars.”

Ezekiel 22:30 “I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one.

I  hope that when that day comes I, Brenda Bowers, can be found to be standing with the just.   I really don’t know that I can or will because I have done, said and believed some very wrong things in my lifetime that have hurt and harmed others.  All I can say in my defense with all sincerity is that I   stood  with my beliefs of what was “right”.  I have lost jobs, friends and even family  when my principles and beliefs were not in accordance with theirs, and I would not  compromise if compromising required me to accept what I felt was wrong.  I was never one to “go along to get along”.  God  did not grant me life on this Earth to just “go along”.  BB

There is a saying which I often use Brenda, as trite as it may sound:

People Change When They are Sufficiently Motivated to Change. People do not, in the abstract, do the things and engage in the type of conduct that results in the condition or status which you seek.

That desired conduct is formed and shaped by the times and the circumstances extant. People hustle when they perceive a reason to hustle. People expand their minds and engage in productive and socially beneficial behavior, when they perceive that it is in their best interests.

People need to feel that engaging in the type of behavior about which you speak will derive them some benefit. If not, they will not do it.

Reggie, the estimates are from 300,000 to 650,000 people took the time and expense to travel to Washington DC this Saturday for a three hour program. No signs or shouting except for American flags and Prayers and hymns. There is no telling how many of us participated via TV. That is a start i would say.

The people know something bad is wrong with our government and we have known for a time now that a great deal is wrong with out society when the small groups of fanatics can bulldoze over us and the courts allow it. I believe a goodly number of us are motivated because we know if nothing is done things will just get worse for our children. People will do for their children what they won’t do for themselves. BB

I agree with both of you to some extent. People won’t change unless they feel there is a benefit for them. Benefiting their children obviously benefits them. That fact is why the left will sell tax increases, casinos, alcohol, and god-knows-what-else by arguing that the children will benefit. (It’s true in FL they tried & in GA they did sell Casinos by promising school money, in CA some pro-drug groups claim tax revenue from legalizing drugs will benefit kids.)

It’s going to take real positive change from those we elect this fall if we hope to make long-term progress. That will start by creating jobs against Obama’s will and taking credit for doing so. The rest will follow.

The change that will truly benefit our children is as Glenn Beck and apparently 550,000 other Americans believe is going back to
god and the Judeo-Christian moral codes.

Frankly I see nothing wrong with casinos. They do not violate my moral code or the Ten Commandments. The only way they hurt anyone is if the gambler goes to excess and loses money needed by his family. This also applies to drinking and drugging which both are far more harmful to the family and the public than a gambler losing his money.

I am talking about the change in morality that is truly harmful. Shacking up and having children is morally WRONG! A child deserves two parents who are committed to each other and that child. This one change in attitudes and morals would go a tremendously long way in correcting the problems in our society. When 74% of the prisoners in our prisons and jails come from one parent families it should be evident that something is wrong with the standards accepted by society in family associations that are acceptable.

I could go on, but you get the idea. Following the Ten Commandments by the majority of our population will bring us to a place of peace in the nation and probably in the world. BB
