briefly on me
**********************************************************************
briefly me
my email address is: brendafay2410@yahoo.com
My favorite memory …Have you a week or two to listen?
Why I write …It’s fun. And I have so much I want to say, so much I want to teach the young about what I have learned so they may not make the same mistakes. And they needn’t fear learning from me and not making the mistakes I made because there will still be many left that can be theirs alone.
What I am reading/watching/listening to …newspapers and blogs from everywhere. The Internet has opened the world to me! Listening to my favorite music which like everything else in my life is changeable depending on my mood since I seem to “favor” all genre. Don’t watch TV much. Watched “Peter, Paul and Mary” on PBS tonight and had to dust the screen off to see the picture! haven’t seen a movie since I walked out after five minutes of “Born on the 4th. of July” because I can not abide four letter words.
When not reading news I like the old classics, biographies and factoids during the day. I really do read a lot! Always have had a book somewhere close at hand.
Oh yes, after starting my day with all that serious stuff I like to end it with a nice romance novel. No one getting killed and no greedy cheating and lying, and always a happy ending. The authors have to be able to tell a good story however, I won’t read just anything. Norah Roberts and Debbie McComber, Fern Michaels and Judith McNaught to name a few favorites.
If asked to name but two of my very favorite authors I would have to say James Michener and Leon Uris for fiction. Philosophy would be a man you may not have even heard of since he was an elderly northern European transplant to America named Eric Hoffer. His “The Passionate State of Mind” gives one more challenging thoughts than any other philosopher I was forced to study in college where naturally Eric Hoffer did not make the cut. Harry Truman, Will Rogers, Winston Churchill and Samuel Clemens have also offered me much philosophical enjoyment as well as intellectual stimulation. I name them as “one” because I would have difficulty saying which one I like the most after, a long ways after, Eric Hoffer. Last is poetry and no one compares in my mind to Rod McKuen who did not just write pretty words making pretty thoughts, but opened his soul and let all the joy and hurt and love pour out in his writing.
My first job was my own business. I took orders for Christmas cards when out of school in the summer and then made deliveries in November just in time to get out for Christmas. I did this from age 8 to age 15. My second job (aged 11 -14) was being the newspaper delivery person in my village where all 67 homes ordered a paper from me. So rain or shine, sleet or snow I walked up and down the hillsides tossing a newspaper on everyone’s porch. The Thursday paper was the heaviest as it contained the most advertising requiring that I make three trips back to the pick up point to refill my paper bag and start out again. I was one of only 3 girls delivering newspapers for the Steubenville, Ohio Herald Star.
My best moment …here and now. This is why I call my blog: And So I Go: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. Life has been so very interesting for me. I had tragedies and joys, but never boredom. Would I live any of it over if I could? Never! I enjoy today, but am also impatient to see Tomorrow.
My inspiration …. sun in the morning and the moon at night, and everything made by God that their light shines upon. I only have four things to which I am intolerant: cruelty, brutality, stupidity and willful ignorance. All else is a joy to discover and explore. Have you ever studied a dandelion up close and personal? Once you have seen a dandelion and learned it’s qualities who could possibly prefer a rose?

Since you seem to say you question everything with Why? Then WHY would you not research the migration and refugee assistance act that the out going president Bush did sign on April 29, 2005 call Presidential Determination 2005-23 for $34.7 million for the West Bank, Gaza, Burundi and the Democractic Congo. Then go and check out the Presidential Determination 2007-19 dated May 10, 2007also for Somalia, Sudan, Chad, West Bank and Gaza. Donn’t all these countries have muslim extremist in them that wish death to us American. If you are up on your fact you would know that Somalia is being run by Muslim extremist with connections to Al Qaida and this was your Republican president who signed off on that. Since then have we seen our borders flooded with immigrants from these countries? NO. Because we are giving them humanitarian aid within there own countries not importing them here. So I would suggest before you blog in the future on a subject you haven’t fully researched you shouldn’t blog at all. Unless of course ignorance is bliss. But the Truth will set you Free.

Brenda, I am a South African, living in South Africa with one of my sons and having a son and daughter who emigrated with their families to the USA. We were lucky enough to have visited them several times since their departure and I like to listen to all the sides of the political spectre of your country. I find you comments very interesting and would like to get your blogs regularly.
Where do I sign up for it?
Thank you.

Brenda…I need to contact you regarding a special project I’m working on…shoot me an e-mail so we can talk offline.

Brenda,
You wouldn’t happen to be related to Peggy Bowers that lived in Alamogordo, NM in 1960 would you? I believe that her father was in the Air Force at the base outside of Alamogordo.

I thought you might be related somehow. Peggy was a beautiful young lady in my high school, and I had a mad crush on her. Oh, well…

I love your blog. Simply.

Hello Brenda Bowers;
How has the Ozark weather been lately? I’ll bet it’s been hot and humid?

Brenda, send me your email address

Thanks for the Great place to come and express our freedom of expressions and thoughts !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brenda Bowers, Cleo Powers. Now I’m awondering!
Just came across your site & I think your all lovely!
Its nice to see a blog thats up to date. see you around Brenda if’n your in the Tulsa area sometimes.

I just discovered your blog. Appreciate your comments about Harry Truman. I’ve always thought he was the last real person to occupy the Oval Office. He never seemed to be concerned with what others thought about him and always spoke his mind even when Bess & Margaret were sometimes embarrassed.

I’ve been reading a book on Will Rogers and its uncanny how over 80 percent of his observations/jokes about government, politics, people, etc are as timely and funny today as they were when he made them in the twenties and thirties of the last century. I’m not sure whether or not this is due to Will being ahead of his time or the fact that things just don’t change as much as we think.

I have written a book (498 pages) for your consideration exposing the truth and very grave danger posed to all freedom loving peoples by Islam.

My mother – in – law’s best friend’s son (25 years) who worked at the Twin Towers had a day off from work scheduled for 9/11. Late at night 9/10, he received a call from an associate who had taken ill and asked if he wouldn’t mind covering the next day and in return he would trade his day off the following week. He left for work at 6:00 am on September 11 and was dead by 9:30 am. There must be dozens of stories just like this one.
This young man and the 2,972 were murdered so their 19 Muslim killers who “fight in the way of Allah and shall slay and be slain” could ascend to Paradise. Indeed, the only way Muslim men can be guaranteed accession to Paradise is to slay or be slain in the service of God.
Read the book for the brutal reality of this very evil ideology.
Sincerely,
Jake

“Eventually he made a demo tape and was hired by KGO, a San Francisco station” (NY Times Article 12-17-2007)
Hi Michael,
Let me start off by saying that My English Teacher was the one and only Bill O’Reilly from FOX News, yes indeed, Bill taught at “Monsignor Edward Pace HS” in Miami, Fla. Check it out if you don’t believe me, or let me know if you need to see his picture in my 1973 Pace yearbook!
Now that I have your attention, my girlfriend Cathy is an avid listener of your show and she read an article about your life and the “Demo Tape” statement above came from that article. Cathy has always told me that I had a great radio voice as well as sense of humor, political insight (ex- City Councilman)and excellent communication skills. All this remains to be seen and if I never get a response from you then I will have to assume that my sweet Cathy is blinded to my Illusions of Grandeur.
Any way back to your making a Demo Tape, I love that approach and would like to emulate that approach and I was wondering if you would take a few minutes out of your busy and hectic day of trying to dodge gun / pun bullets, if you could give me a brief tip that would help me get a step in the right direction (Who and How to go about getting some radio station to even view it much less see the God Given potential within, LOL! )
I really don’t expect to hear back from you as you probably receive Millions of these type of emails and much worse, but I promised Cathy I would give it a try!
Keep up the good work and don’t ever let anyone stop you from Telling it Like it IS!!!
Thanks and regards,

I don’t know the significance of the previous post other than the blurb at the beginning from the NY Times referring to “he” (I’m assuming its Ron Montanez). And I am assuming the Michael he wrote to advised him how to get into radio. If I’m right, it’s a great story. Heck its a great story if I’m not right. FYI: KGO is a legendary San Francisco AM station operating on 810 KHZ with 50,000 watts. Is Ron Montanez a name I should know? He could be very well known on the radio and I’m not aware of him. Given the sorry state of affairs of the broadcasting community in the Triad area of North Carolina, where I live, I no longer listen to the radio

Brenda. I live faraway from you and although brought up in a christian faith, I live in, by choice, a muslim country.I thought, after reading some of your thoughts, we could exchanged a couple of ideas on our motivation. I found your philosopy refreshing, almost unique and very similar to mine. I tried your www address but to no avail. If you would care to compare ideas and thoughts let me know, perspective is all in the shading.
Rob Smallwood.

Enjoy your incisive musings. Keep it up. You might like reading the New Criterion.

Thank you Robert for your comment and your suggestions. I always enjoy finding new blogs. Unfortunately there aren’t enough hours in the day for me to read all the great stuff that is available on the Net. This has to be the greatest invention in my time and I have seen a whole lot of fantastic things since 1941. But the Internet is the peoples newspaper, towncrier, lifeline to each othe; and the Internet is what is going to save America’s freedoms. BB

John, thank you for visiting my site and making your statement. The fact is that I am aware of what previous administrations have done and I have been opposed to this for many years.
The reason we do not have the Muslim hordes on our borders is because they are crossing the borders of the European countries where they have found the governments to be more willing to allow them their own governments within the countries they have infiltrated.
And John, the truth has set me free. The number of readers I have visiting my site on a daily basis will keep me blogging and trying to get the truth out there. Sincerely, Brenda Bowers

I’ve just read your informal biograghy and was surprised and pleased to see you are a person of some knowledge and self-reflection. Maybe its my liberal bias,( I’m a Canadian from the province that brought Universal heathcare to the world). If you ever read the story of how Rev. Douglas fought so hard for this and how vehement was the Medical communities resistance- even to the point of the death of some patients- you might understand that not all Liberals have character defects or are lacking somehow in common sense. After reading your lovely bio I have to say I feel like you’re someone I would like if I met you in some non-political setting. I admire and respect your deepest views on life and living. I guess what I don’t understand is how someone with such an open mind and humble spirit can appear to be so ideological. I find myself often disagreeing with friends and family who are Liberals like me so I tend to think others who are really thinking people should tend to behave likewise. How, as a matter of fact coud you enjoy Peter, Paul and Marry and their fire-brand Liberalism. Even I thought that they were sadly naive about the world and how they could change it. Starry eyed idealists. I love that they were but you have to admit even Obama would blush at their vision of “change” for America. That said, I wonder what it is that you enjoyed (if you weren’t just watching to reaffirm an already held view) about these hippies. Anyway, I don’t want to monopolize your time so I’ll finish up by asking why you feel it’s necessary to tear down Obama at every time over every thing. Sometimes even Hitler was asleep when a bad thing happened. You say we need to “wake up”. I agree we do. When I really think about it I know there’s so much more to understand. I still have alot of waking up to do. The more I learn the more I realize how little I know. But how could I ever teach people my strong views on everything with that attitude?

Yeah! – Tommy Douglas, the Socialist clergyman from Saskatchewan who’s responsible for (most) of the worlds Healcare Systems is actually Keiffer Sutherlands grandfather. Don’t believe me? Wikapedia! And whats more – so what!

Brenda,
If I was more assured that most conservatives were as well read and fair-minded as I understand you to be, I might feel better about the fact that the future is in your hands. We liberals are not likely to be in favor for a long time, and I have no illusions about that. I guess I should trust more in the goodness of people. The most vulnerable people in America as well as Canada have always been better taken care of than those of most other countries, despite the politcal affiliation of the government in power. It seems to me that’s unlikely to change very much so let’s see how things go with a new President and Congress come 2012. My complaint of Obama was that he was simply too weak. He won’t be remembered as “great” nor should he be. The fact he was given such such positive media attention says only good things about the American people (he was a symbol of the American Dream writ large) and his story for most had little to do with Socialism or big government. Regardless, the future is Conservative red and I for one am not afraid or contemptful. When I find I am I’ll try to recognize it as a sign of being human.

Hi Brenda,
I happened to find your blog last year but got busy with founding 912 Super Seniors and lost track of many things for awhile. I was happy to see your blog listed on Tea Party Patriots website.
You continue to have a wonderful commentary and selection of topics and articles.
From one Buckeye to another ( having lived in NY for 40 years I remain proud of my Buckeye heitage) please visit us at 912 Super Seniors.

Do you recall in three years ago when Paulson drew took the beast by the horns and basically declared “If Congress don’t accept to pass this bail out, the market will explode?” Ironically, that made it unevitable for the market to burst when Congress stopped to go along. Obama gave a shot to a similar move last weekend with the threat of a weekend time limit but the oposition didn’t think much and called his bluff. Now it probably wont be the same if this next deadline is not respected.

You lost me, buddy. I mean, I suppose I get what youre saying. I get where youre coming from. But you just seem to have forgotten that there are people out there who can see this issue for what it really is and may not agree with you. You seem to alienate a whole bunch of people who might have been fans of your blog.

The United States is really composed of a bunch of little countries. It is really neat to see how there are different rules in each state and how each of them keep order. I am surprised that there isn’t more arguing between states but I think someday there will be. There is too much pride in each one for horrible things not to happen some day. It might not be a bad idea to just have one law for all states instead of them being able to make their own. Thoughts?

When I at first commented I clicked the -Notify me when new remarks are added- checkbox and now each time a comment is additional I get four emails together with the identical comment. Is there any signifies you perhaps can get rid of me from that service? Many thanks!
I am sorry that you are being annoyed by the emails, I certainly would be too. but I have no idea how to stop them for you. Sorry. BB

great blog man, I really like your writing style that you are using for your posts and stuff, really hollywood…

I like this web blog it’s a master piece! Glad I found this on google.

Its like you read my mind! You appear to know a lot about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with a few pics to drive the message home a bit, but instead of that, this is excellent blog. An excellent read. I will certainly be back.

Aw, this was a really nice post. In idea I would like to put in writing like this additionally – taking time and actual effort to make a very good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate alot and by no means seem to get something done.

Hello. fantastic job. I did not anticipate this. This is a splendid story. Thanks!

It’s very frightening what’s going on with the London riots but the unappealing truth is we could well look back on these times with some nostalgia as things get worse. Right now it seems to be just youngsters out there ‘protesting’ but as the police and political responses become increasingly hysterical and overbearing – special powers aren’t needed, just maintain the already present laws – you’ll soon have Mr & Mrs Middle Class out there in the streets looting and burning. Who will the authorities have to blame? No-one but themselves.

Everyone complains about the Government doing nothing, but in reality it’s us doing nothing. If the cizitens of this country would make a stand and make a demand for what is right then things would finally change. It’s tiring listening about what’s incorrect with our country without action. Stand up for what you believe in.

There are certainly a number of particulars like that to take into consideration. That could be a nice level to carry up. I supply the ideas above as basic inspiration however clearly there are questions just like the one you convey up where an important factor can be working in sincere good faith. I don?t know if finest practices have emerged round things like that, but I am positive that your job is clearly recognized as a fair game. Both girls and boys feel the influence of only a second’s pleasure, for the remainder of their lives.

I’ve been to a lot of national parks down under but the Grampians takes the cake. So relaxing and quiet. Halls Gap is an intimate town with welcoming people. Halls Gap is in the middle of the region and has every amenity we needed when I visited. I’ll be back. The area around Halls Gap also features hidden peaches. I’m not talking the larger towns but places like Dunkeld. Lovely and full of character. I appreciate the work you’ve done in putting your blog together.

Considerably, this post is really the sweetest on this notable topic. I harmonise with your conclusions and will thirstily look forward to your incoming updates. Saying thanks will not just be sufficient, for the phenomenal clarity in your writing. I will directly grab your rss feed to stay informed of any updates. Admirable work and much success in your business dealings! Please excuse my poor English as it is not my first tongue.

What youre saying is completely true. I know that everybody must say the same thing, but I just think that you put it in a way that everyone can understand.

Watched Cowboys and Aliens with James Bond’s Daniel Craig? It’s a great idea mashing up space alien futurism with the two-fisted macho world that was the old West – but the idea’s been done before with Buffy’s James Marsters in High Plains Invaders. True!

Good info. I reached on your website by accident, so thanks.

Couldn?t be written any better. Reading this post reminds me of my old room mate! He always kept talking about this. I will forward this article to him. Pretty sure he will have a good read. Thanks for sharing!

You really allow it to be seem so easy along with your powerpoint presentation but I obtain this particular subject matter to become genuinely something which I do believe I would personally by no means understand. It appears to be as well complicated and incredibly extensive to me. I am impatient for your upcoming post, I can attempt to get the hang of the item!

this is a very nice article. I will to analyse this a little more.

What do you think of the injustice done to Joe Paterno and Bishop Finn in Missouri?

Hi, Brenda! You’re never going to guess who this is!!!! Sitting next to me is your “old” friend (just having turned 79 two days ago), Carol …. wait for it….. Kimberlin!!!!!!
This is Karen…you may remember me. Anyway, I was giving her a lesson on blogging …, because I write blogs for a living for others (and my own, as well). She knew you had one, and so we looked you up!
Your blog looks great…and it’s obvious you love doing it!
We just wanted to say “hi” and let you know she was thinking about you. Carry on…and enjoy your tomorrow!
All the best,
Carol and Karen

I’m impressed, I have to admit. Rarely do I come across a blog that’s both equally educative and
entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head.
The issue is something that too few people are speaking intelligently about.
Now i’m very happy that I came across this in my hunt for something regarding this.

Givem hell Brenda!
